Mediation Resource Group (MRG), once based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was a company that claimed to assist consumers with exiting their timeshare agreements. As with many timeshare exit companies, MRG marketed itself as providing relief from unwanted and financially burdensome timeshare obligations. However, according to information from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), MRG appears to no longer be in business. This review explores the company’s background, business practices, and eventual closure, providing insight for consumers looking for reputable services in the timeshare exit industry.
━ About Mediation Resource Group
Mediation Resource Group was one of several companies in the timeshare exit market, aiming to assist clients in navigating complex timeshare contracts. The company’s operations were primarily based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. It has since ceased operations, according to BBB records. This raises significant concerns about the company’s reliability and effectiveness, as many consumers sought their services with the belief that they would be relieved from their financial obligations.
MRG’s former Vice President, Robert Tuck, previously served in a leadership position with another timeshare exit company, Contract Resolution Group, based in Destin, Florida. This connection is crucial for understanding the broader context in which MRG operated. The BBB has a separate profile for Contract Resolution Group, which has also received complaints related to the timeshare exit process.
━ Consumer Complaints and Controversies
According to the BBB, numerous consumer complaints have surfaced regarding MRG‘s business practices. One of the most troubling accusations involves the collection of upfront fees from customers, who later reported that the promised services were not delivered. These complaints echo similar concerns raised about other businesses affiliated with Mr. Tuck. The pattern of collecting fees and then closing the business without fulfilling obligations has left many consumers still tied to their timeshare contracts and unable to recover the fees they paid.
Date of Experience: April 16, 2024 – Anonymous (BBB Review)
We contacted Mediation Resource Group after they sent us a letter to get out of our timeshare. We talked to them a few times and signed a contract. I cannot get ahold of them now and had sent them $4000.00. Now the website says they are permanently closed. I don’t know if they ever filed to get rid of our timeshare so I don’t know what to do about that since I haven’t paid my maintenance fees for this year. I don’t know what to do now. This will also affect our credit rating I have been told.
In some cases, customers indicated that they were left without communication or recourse, as the company ceased operations without any prior notice. Such practices not only damage the credibility of the business but also create significant financial hardships for those who trusted MRG to resolve their timeshare contracts.
━ Closure of Mediation Resource Group
The closure of Mediation Resource Group leaves unresolved concerns for former clients who are still grappling with the aftermath of unmet promises. For potential future customers, this closure serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of due diligence when selecting a timeshare exit service. The complaints tied to MRG, along with its closure, highlight the potential risks consumers face when engaging with companies in this industry.
━ Closing Thoughts
Mediation Resource Group’s history and ultimate closure are indicative of the challenges facing the timeshare exit industry. While the demand for such services continues to grow, the lack of regulation and accountability has allowed companies like MRG to operate without delivering on their promises. Consumers who are seeking help with exiting timeshares should approach the industry with caution, ensuring they work with companies that have transparent track records and verifiable success in helping clients exit their contracts.
Below is a list of Mediation Resource Group‘s social media, however it is unknown whether or not any of them are still being monitored:
